How to Install the Ad Pay Protection Script in BigCommerce
Before You Begin
- Have your complete custom pixel script from the third-party service ready to copy.
Using the Script Manager (Recommended Method)
The Script Manager is the safest and most reliable way to add custom scripts to your store. It allows you to place scripts on specific pages and manage them without directly editing theme files.
1. Navigate to Script Manager From your BigCommerce dashboard, go to Storefront > Script Manager.
2. Create a New Script Click the Create a Script button on the top right.
3. Configure the Script Settings You will now see a configuration page. Fill out the fields as follows:
- Name of script: Give your script a clear, descriptive name (e.g., "Meta Pixel - All Pages" or "Google Ads Retargeting").
- Description: (Optional) Briefly explain the purpose of the script for your records.
- Location on page: Select Head. Most tracking pixels must be placed in the
<head>
section of your site to function correctly. - Select pages where script will be added: For most tracking pixels, select All pages. This ensures user activity is captured across your entire site, including the checkout and order confirmation pages.
- Script category: Choose the category that best fits your script's purpose (e.g., Analytics or Targeting/Advertising). This setting integrates with cookie consent banners.
- Script type: Select Script.
- Script contents: Paste your entire custom pixel script into this box.
(Note: This is a placeholder for a potential screenshot of the settings.)
4. Save Your Script Click the Save button in the bottom right corner.
Your custom pixel script is now installed and active on your BigCommerce store. It may take a few moments for the script to be fully deployed across your site.
