# Identity verification

> Which documents are accepted for each type of identity verification in the Dash.fi application.

Identity verification is required during the Dash.fi application. Dash.fi follows Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) standards. Different document types are accepted depending on what's being verified.

<Note>
  Across all document types: photos must be in **colour**, all **four corners must be visible**, all relevant information must be **clearly legible**, and documents must be **current and valid**. Do not submit screenshots or scans — original photos only.

## General identity verification

Submit two photos:

1. A **selfie** holding the document
2. A **photo of just the document** by itself

Accepted documents:

* State driver's licence (front and back)
* Driver's permit
* State-issued ID
* Military ID
* Passport (both pages)

<Warning>
  Temporary IDs are not accepted. Your document must be a permanent, government-issued ID.
</Warning>

## Individual address verification

Submit **one** of the following:

**Photo ID (front and back):**

* Current driver's licence
* Driver's permit
* State-issued ID
* Military ID

**Alternative documents:**

* Utility bill (not a mobile phone bill; dated within the last 60 days)
* Lease agreement (within the last year; signed by both parties)
* Signed mortgage statement (within the last 60 days)
* NYC ID
* Tuition statement showing a dorm address

<Warning>
  P.O. Boxes are not accepted for address verification. Your document must show a physical street address.
</Warning>

## Business address verification

Submit **one** of the following:

* Articles of Incorporation or Certificate of Formation
* IRS EIN verification letter
* Tax return
* Credit card statement (not older than 30 days)
* Bank statement (not older than 30 days)

## SSN verification

Submit **one document from each list**.

**List 1 — choose one:**

* State driver's licence
* Driver's permit
* State-issued ID
* US passport
* US passport card
* Birth certificate

**List 2 — choose one:**

* Social Security card
* 1040 Tax Return
* W-2 or 1099
* W-4
* Form 1095
* Most recent month's pay stub
* Social Security Administration (SSA) documents
* Military records
* Unemployment benefits documentation
* Court order for name change
* Divorce decree

## Date of birth verification

Submit **one** of the following:

* State driver's licence
* Driver's permit
* State-issued ID
* US passport
* US passport card
* Birth certificate

## Name verification

Submit **one** of the following:

* Current driver's licence (front and back)
* Driver's permit with photo
* State photo ID
* US passport
* Marriage licence or divorce decree
* Court order
* Social Security card
* IRS Form W-2

<Tip>
  To add a former name to your account, submit either a birth certificate or a court order showing the name change.
