# Collect and organize Meta Ads receipts

> Enable Meta email notifications and route billing receipts to one inbox so every transaction ID, amount, and account ID is captured automatically.

Manually downloading billing reports from each Meta ad account is time-consuming and error-prone, especially as you scale across multiple accounts. Enable email notifications for receipts in Meta and route those emails to a centralized inbox. Every transaction — including transaction IDs, account IDs, amounts, and payment reference IDs — is captured without you ever logging in to pull reports.

## Step 1: Enable email notifications for receipts

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Meta Ad Account settings">
    Log in to Meta and navigate to your ad account settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find Billing & Payments">
    Locate the **Billing & Payments** section within your account settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on email notifications">
    Enable **Email Notifications** at the ad account level. Once active, Meta will send a receipt email each time a billing event occurs on that account.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  You'll need to repeat this step for each Meta ad account you want to track. Repeat the process for every account in your portfolio to ensure no receipts are missed.

## Step 2: Centralize receipt collection

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set up a dedicated inbox">
    Create or designate a single email inbox specifically for Meta billing receipts. Using a dedicated address (such as `meta-receipts@yourcompany.com`) keeps billing emails separate from day-to-day communications.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure email forwarding">
    Set up automatic email forwarding rules so that receipt emails from Meta are routed to your centralized inbox as soon as they arrive.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review your centralized records">
    With all emails flowing into one place, you'll have a single source of truth containing every transaction ID, account ID, billing amount, and payment reference ID across all your Meta ad accounts.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Step 3: Use receipt data for reporting

Once receipts are centralized, you can put the data to work for financial oversight and campaign tracking.

* **Track expenses by transaction ID and account ID** — Tie every charge back to a specific campaign or account for granular visibility.
* **Monitor campaign results and billing amounts** — Compare ad spend against campaign performance data side by side.
* **Simplify reconciliation** — All billing details are in one place, reducing the time spent on month-end financial reporting.

<Tip>
  Pair centralized receipt collection with a higher billing threshold (see the [Billing Threshold](./meta-billing-threshold) guide) to reduce the total number of receipt emails you receive each month, making reconciliation even simpler.
